ImageEach class is provided with its own bright, airy and spacious classroom, which is carefully constructed as an age-appropriate child-centered environment where learning occurs naturally in the context of projects and play. Children in the Early Childhood Center are never visitors in a “teachers” classroom. Each classroom is divided into several learning areas, and in this way children are encouraged to obtain a sense of independence and confidence in themselves and their capacity to choose among alternative activities.

ImageTwo large indoor play spaces, fully equipped with preschool apparatus are in constant use. A spacious kitchen provides the setting for cooking projects. Our library, with a wide selection of books for young children, is located on the fourth floor. A highly supervised swimming program for full day nursery children and a parent-child swim program take place in our indoor pool.

Nearby Prospect Park serves as an outdoor playground and a laboratory for science and nature studies. The resources of the Park Slope community, including firehouses, veterinarians, local merchants, the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and the Prospect Park Wildlife Center extend the child’s world and provide a wealth of learning opportunities.
