ImageChildren are introduced to Jewish culture through the symbols and stories of the Jewish holidays, which are integrated into each class’s learning activities. The Jewish calendar with its endless variety of songs, food, fragrances and ritual objects, provides the children with many wonderful learning opportunities. Jewish holidays are explored and celebrated with great enthusiasm. For Hanukah, a song festival is presented by the nursery school classes for parents, followed by a latke party. For Purim, the children hold a fully costumed Purim parade, complete with noise-makers of every conceivable description. For Passover, the children actively plan and participate in a beautiful seder for nursery school families. The arrival of the Sabbath is celebrated each Friday with the sounds, sights and tastes of an Oneg Shabbat in each classroom.

ImageThe basic human values of the Jewish tradition, particularly tzedakah (charity), are imparted through projects such as preparing baked goods for seniors or bringing toys to hospitalized children.
