Rabbi's Message Dear Congregants,
As Jews, we are blessed with the obligation to perform Mitzvot. Many members of the Congregation volunteer their time to support Temple programs and serve on Temple committees, and many families and individuals volunteer for a wide range of community services. Beth Elohim's Social Action Committee has drawn upon the experience of these members in preparing this Guide to Volunteering. I encourage you consult this Guide frequently, and to enrich your lives with the joy of volunteer service.

President's MessageDear Fellow Members of Congregation Beth Elohim:
The Social Action Committee sponsors a wide range of opportunities throughout the year to carry out the mitzvot of tzedakah and tikkun olam. To complement Congregation-wide community service events, its members have prepared this Guide to Volunteering. Potential volunteers of all ages and abilities will find within its pages descriptions of volunteer opportunities that will make effective use of their skills, and fit easily into their schedules. We thank the Committee for producing this valuable resource for our members.
Lyn Hill, President
Co-char's MessageDear Volunteers:
This is the second edition of the Guide to Volunteering, a resource for members of the congregation who view pursuing social justice and repairing the world as central to the Jewish tradition. It provides information about more than a dozen local organizations seeking volunteers. In most cases, it includes the name and phone number of a member of the congregation who knows the organization well and can offer first hand advice to potential volunteers. We hope you'll find this Guide helpful and accurate, and we welcome any comments and suggestions you may have for improving it.
