JEWISH PARENTING

WITH RABBI SHIRA KOCH EPSTEIN

We are excited to begin to offer Jewish parenting classes!
In our diverse community, we have many different levels of Jewish knowledge and many ways of connecting to Judaism and the Jewish community. Many of you have expressed that, as Jewish or non-Jewish parents raising Jewish children, you feel a need to increase your own knowledge and comfort level. Others have expressed a desire to explore your personal connections to or difficulties with Jewish tradition and community as adults and as parents.

To that end, we are starting to offer Jewish parenting classes at CBE on Friday mornings in March, beginning on March 12 from 9:15-10:30 am.

Where can you play chess on Monday, take a theater class on Tuesday and launch a rocket on Friday?

We offer children in kindergarten through sixth grade a wide variety of instructional classes and recreational activities in a safe and caring environment. We believe that each child develops at his or her own pace. Our program encourages children to express themselves and their creativity in a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere. All program areas are supervised by highly qualified staff.

The program operates on a trimester basis. Monday - Friday from 3:00 to 5:45pm (extended hours are available until 6:30 for a small additional fee)

The After School Center provides a pick-up service from many neighborhood schools including: 321, 282, 154, 372, 39, Berkeley Carroll, Poly Prep, etc.

The Program : Each day a child can choose a class from a course listing. Classes for children in kindergarten and first grade are offered from 3:30 - 4:30. They spend the next hour with a group of counselors playing active games or in a pre-school classroom. Counselors escort the children from one activity to the next and stay with them throughout their day. A supervised homework room is available to first graders. There is a minimum 2 day registration for these grades. There is no minimum for single classes. Courses include, cooking, computers, instructional swim, art, movement, sports, science, creative dramatics, gymnastics, karate.

Children in second through sixth grade can sign up for one class per day from our course listing. In each course the child's individual ability is emphasized from basic through more advanced skills.
