Jewish texts depict a God who offers human beings both righteousness (tzdakah) and care (chesed). To nurture a warm, caring and welcoming community at Congregation Beth Elohim, the Membership Committee has created the "Chesed" Group.
The Chesed Group helps members in times of illness or loss and
recognizes times of celebration through cards, calls and announcements
in our congregational bulletin and advisory.
Are you or someone you love ill and in need of a visit or a friendly
call? Do you need a meal prepared during a time of illness,
convalescence or mourning? Are you having trouble finding a ride to
synagogue or religious school? Reach out to the Chesed Group and we
will find volunteers to help. No information about illness, death or
simcha will be shared unless a congregant wishes it to be shared.
If you are celebrating a simcha, help us build the spirit of
chesed by sharing that news with the congregation. If you are a
congregant or hear of someone who could use some "acts of loving
kindness" or is enjoying a happy event, please contact lay-leader Susan
Miller at
