Congregation Beth Elohim has been named a winner of
the 2007 Union of Reform Judaism "Congregation of Learners" competition. Rabbi Daniel Bronstein, CBE’s congregation scholar, received word that CBE was
one of six Reform congregations
nationwide to receive this designation.
Rabbi Bronstein and the members of the Jewish Learning
Committee led by co-chairs David Greenberg and Bonnie Charkey were lauded for
their “outstanding arrary of adult Jewish programming [which] demonstrates the
learning process at its best.”
Building
on the programing which resulted in this award, the 2007-08 Jewish Learning
Committee's course offerings have been announced (for the schedule of classes, click here.) and online registration is now available.
Here's the text of the letter sent to Rabbi Bronstein:
September 10, 2007
Dear Rabbi Bronstein,
Congratulations! Congregation Beth Elohim has been selected
as a winner of the 2007 Union of Reform Judaism "Congregation of Learners" awards
competition! Your outstanding array of adult Jewish programming demonstrates
the learning process at its best. Offering both intellectual and spiritual
opportunities for all levels of learners, your congregation serves as an
exemplar of adult study across the North American Reform Movement.
The Department of Lifelong Jewish Learning received many
wonderful submissions for this award, a testament to the seriousness with which
learning is considered by Reform professional and lay leaders alike. With your
help, this groundswell of continuous, continued knowledge will increase,
confirming the mission of Rabbi Eric Yoffie, Union president, to "let our
people know."
