At Congregation Beth Elohim,
we believe that Jewish education is a process by which all of us—from
birth through our final years—gain knowledge, wisdom, understanding,
and become more deeply engaged in creating and transmitting authentic
Jewish life and culture.
Together (Yachad), we
all learn as members of a multigenerational and extended Jewish family.
Our educational programming, while largely focused on our children,
encourages all members of the community to be engaged in active Jewish
learning.
Yachad programming and curriculum
are developed around six core concepts:
Torah: Text and Narrative
Avodah: Mitzvah, Tefila
(Prayer) and Ritual
G’milut Chasadim V’derekh
Eretz: Acts of Lovingkindness, Jewish Values and World Citizenship
Am Yisrael: Israel,
Peoplehood, and Pluralism
Masoret V’Hitchadshut:
Tradition and Innovation
Ivrit: Hebrew Language
and Jewish Culture
Yachad consists of four programmatic
components: Limmud (Learning), Ruach (Spirit), Shabbat
(Shabbat) and Mishpacha (Family).
This year, families with children
in our earliest grades, Kindergarten through Second Grade, will have
Limmud, and our older students, Third through Sixth Grade, will have
Limmud along with a second day of learning, either in the new Ruach
Program, or the Shabbat Program. as described below. All families
will be invited and encouraged to participate in all Mishpacha programming.
