Ruach B'Yachad (Spirit Together) | Print |  E-mail

Grades 3-6 have the choice of participating in Ruach (Spirit) (or Shabbat– see below).  Ruach is a Jewish Studies and Hebrew program which teaches the core curricular concepts through elective classes focusing on art, physical movement, or cultural activities. Ruach consists of a “Chug Torah” period where students learn Jewish studies by grade level in topic specific mini-units, and a “Chug Tarbut” period where students choose an arts, sport, or culture elective.  All electives will explore the same core curriculum through projects in their chosen media.  For example, students may explore Bible stories from Genesis through painting, sculpture, video production, drama, movement in the pool or gym, cooking or music.  Participants in Ruach will also participate in and help to create and lead a meaningful tefila (Jewish prayer) experience each Thursday.  Ruach meets on Thursday afternoons from 3:45 PM-6:15 PM.  There are three yearly Chagigot (celebrations), opportunities for students to present their work to parents and to the community. These will take place from 6:15 PM-7:15 PM on December 8, March 8, and May 17.
