Youth and Family Education Now Yachad | Print |  E-mail

A new school year at CBE sees the start of a major overhaul of educational programming under the direction of Rabbi Shira Koch Epstein. In a message to parents, Rabbi Epstein wrote, “Rather than being called ‘Religious School’or ‘Hebrew School,’ neither of which encompasses the greater goals of this program, our educational program will now be called Yachad  (Together)."

Yachad consists of four programmatic components: Limmud (Learning), Ruach (Spirit), Shabbat (Shabbat) and Mishpacha (Family). Children in grades, K-2 will have Limmud, while students in grades 3-6 will have Limmud along with a second day of learning, either in the new Ruach Program, or the Shabbat Program. All families will be invited and encouraged to participate in all Mishpacha programming.

Students in 7th grade will study on Wednesdays from 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM (including a light dinner) in a unique program led by Rabbi Andy Bachman and Rabbinic Interns, David Singer and Matt Soffer. Academy (8th-12th grade) students will participate in a program of learning, community building, and leadership development taught by Rabbis Bachman, Bronstein, and Epstein, along with Rabbinic Interns, Singer and Soffer, Lead Teacher, Yehudit Feinstein, and BESTY Youth Group advisor, Rebecca Kleinhandler.  Academy will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 PM and includes a light dinner.

A fuller description of the Yachad program may be found here.
