Why did a respected, brilliant doctor champion the lobotomy procedure, and how did he convince mainstream medicine to go along? Why did patients and their families submit to a procedure that would turn many of them into zombies? The Lobotomist is a strange tale of the man behind the infamous operation that went from being a cure for mental illness to a medical horror story in the span of twenty-five years. The film, which will air on the PBS series American Experience in early 2008, is receiving its world premiere at CBE.
Oscar-nominated and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and Congregation member Barak Goodman will introduce the film and answer questions after the screening.
