Saturday, November 01 2008, 5:00pm - 6:30pm
Join us Saturday, November 1, at  5pm for a co-sponsored CBE-Altshul Shabbat afternoon program including food, learning, havdalah and community.

5:00    Snacks   (seudah shlishit) sponsored by Altshul
5:30    Learning  with Rabbi Dan Bronstein:

Why a Raven?
Noah's Olive branch clutching Dove has become a universally-recognized symbol and icon. However, even before sending out Doves, Noah released a Raven to check out the post-flood world (Gen. 8:7).  Promptly disappearing from the narrative after a single verse, Noah's Raven reappears in commentaries and Aggadah and we will take a look at how Noah's first bird has been understood and explained in the Tradition.

6:15-6:30 Singing and Havdallah (Shabbat ends at 6:34pm).
